School Year 2015

Cline River Heliport:

Jr. and Sr. High students at O'Chiese School who receive awards for attendance, citizenship and improvement also get extra field trips! On May 12, 2015 eight students accompanied two teachers to Cline River Heliport (Near Abraham Lake) where we were loaded onto 2 helicopters. WE flew into the mountains, over glaciers, peaks and through valleys, before landing beside a pristine river. We then hiked up through a mossy forest to a waterfall for a picnic.

O'Chiese Jr. High Students Visit the Library & Fire Hall:

Jr. High Students went to the Rocky Mountain House Fire Hall and to the Rocky Library to listen to the author Sigmund Brauer speak. They had an awesome time and even checked out their books!

O'Chiese School Outdoor Wilderness 1st Aid Training:

April 27-May 2, 2015 O'Chiese students participated in an a grueling evening and weekend wilderness first aid training which included hours of emergency scenarios in the bush. Among other skills, students and teachers learned how to stop fatal bleeding, immobilize a spinal injury, splint broken bones and keep patients safe and warm when help is far away. Thanks to Rocky Mountain Adventure Medicine for being a fabulous instructor. Now, a good portion of our high school students are ready to help lead wilderness adventures!

O’Chiese School took O'Chiese students on year end field trips to Galaxy Land in Edmonton and on a day trip to the bush to learn how to build lean toos.

The photo is a picture of a lean too build by two students, great job and enjoy your summer holidays safely!
