O'Chiese First Nation held their annual Treaty Day Festivities and it was sooo much fun!

O'Chiese Treaty Day Emcee was Allan Littlejohn he welcomed everyone and Chief addressed the community. The Soaring Hawk drum Group regaled us with their drumming and singing music. Elders posed for their annual photo-op. Later in the day there was a live band for dancing.

There was sooo much food, BBQ by the Hospitality Training Chefs, food donated by O’Chiese Gas Bar.

The Children has so much fun things to do sumo wrestling, jumping in the inflatables, face painting, cotton candy, a talent show ( and do we have some talented singers and drummers), prizes to win including bikes as well as kids races!

Each year one of the favorite and highly anticipated events is the O’Chiese races from 1-50+ the crowd sure cheered!

This year they added an additional race a Triathlon! It was so fun! There also was Horseshoe games, O’Chiese Talent Show judged by Radio DJ: Everyone is welcome including horses.  Of course there was Treaty Monies, Helicopter rides and the evening ended with spectacular fireworks!

Treaty Day Triathalon

The beginning of the triathlon started with biking up the big hill near the sundance grounds and back. After the bike ride they passed the baton (bottle of H2O) to their teammate to start the running portion. After the team member paddles to the bridge they get their boat out. And run carrying their boat to the finish line! The winning team: THE DYNAMITES!

Congratulations to all the participants it is a tough course!

One of the highlights for everyone was the Elders Baseball Game, some hadn’t played for over 15 years or more; it was such a good natured fun game to play and watch! After Treaty Day we heard some Elders were sore for awhile but they said it was well worth it! The large crowd absolutely loved the baseball game it was so entertaining! The game really brought the community together! Thank you Elders!
